Operation¶
Connect the Dock¶
- Connect the supplied 12 VDC power adapter to the dock's power input.
- If recordings will be transferred over the wired network, connect the dock's RJ45 uplink to the network used by the cameras' video management system (VMS).
- Connect the supplied mains power cable to the adapter and a mains outlet.
- Check the dock status LED. Solid green indicates normal docking station health, including when no cameras are inserted.
For connector locations, see Product Overview.
Insert the Cameras¶
Insert each BC100 directly into an available cradle with the camera lens facing you. Each cradle supports one camera orientation. The DCK6 accommodates up to six cameras.
Each camera's battery level and docking configuration determine whether that camera charges or enters online mode. The dock's green health LED does not identify an individual camera's mode.
Status Indicators¶
The DCK6 has a dock status LED and two LEDs in its shared RJ45 Ethernet uplink.
Dock Status LED¶
| Status LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid green | Docking station health is normal. This applies with no cameras inserted and while cameras are charging or online. |
| Solid red | Docking station error. See Troubleshooting. |
| Off | Check the power connection and adapter. See Troubleshooting. |
Hinweis
A green status LED does not mean a camera is online or that a recording transfer has completed. Check each camera's docking state and the VMS or cloud service's transfer status.
Ethernet Port LEDs¶
The RJ45 LEDs indicate the shared uplink's link speed and network activity.
| Link speed | Green port LED | Yellow port LED |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Gbps | Lit; flashes on activity | Lit; flashes on activity |
| 10/100 Mbps | Lit; flashes on activity | Off |
Uplink activity does not identify which camera is communicating. One camera can be charging while another transfers recordings over the shared connection.
Camera Feedback¶
While charging, each BC100's front LED flashes yellow and its OLED shows charging status and battery percentage. The charging flash alternates on for 500 ms and off for 500 ms. When the battery is fully charged, the front LED returns to its previous state.
Check Docking State on each camera's web Dashboard to determine that camera's mode.
Charging and Online Modes¶
Each cradle supports QuickCharge 3.0 charging at up to 18 W using the supplied power adapter. All six cameras can charge at the same time.
Each docked BC100 alternates between charging and online operation independently. A camera cannot charge its battery and transfer data over Ethernet at the same time, but other cameras in the dock can operate in a different mode.
| Camera mode | This camera's battery charging | This camera's wired connection | This camera's Wi-Fi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charging | Active until the battery is full | Inactive | Available if configured |
| Online | Inactive | Active through the shared uplink | Inactive |
Automatic Mode Changes¶
When online mode is enabled on a camera, its battery thresholds and timeouts control the automatic cycle:
- A sufficient battery level allows the camera to enter online mode.
- After a charging period, the battery must reach the configured starting threshold and the charging timeout must elapse before the camera returns online automatically.
- While online, the camera returns to charging if the Ethernet link is lost, the battery falls below the configured minimum, or the inactivity timeout elapses without recorded-media retrieval activity.
Recorded-media retrieval includes VMS playback or a file download through the camera web interface. Traffic from another camera does not constitute recorded-media retrieval from this camera.
Manual Override¶
While a camera is docked, press and hold F1 or F3 for more than 5 seconds on that camera to override its automatic charging/online behavior. Press one button, not both together.
The button-operated override remains active until that camera is removed from the dock or returned to automatic behavior by holding F1 or F3 again for more than 5 seconds.
Force Online Mode is also available in each camera's web interface under the docking settings and on the Dashboard.
Hinweis
Online mode stops battery charging on that camera. If a camera needs to recharge, check that an override is not keeping it online.
Camera Configuration¶
The dock has no user interface. Configure battery thresholds, timeouts, online-mode controls, and permissions for docked live streaming, recording, and Wi-Fi playback on each BC100 camera.
See the PERCEPT BC100 user manual, System > Docking Station, for the docking configuration reference.
Live streaming while docked can slow charging. If recordings should transfer only over the wired connection while docked, use each camera's docking settings to disallow Wi-Fi playback and clip downloads.
Network Identity¶
The dock has no network address of its own. Each docked camera uses its own MAC address and network settings over the shared uplink. The VMS communicates with the cameras, not with a separately configured docking station. All cameras share the capacity of the single Gigabit Ethernet uplink.
Transfer Recordings¶
Recording offload is driven by the receiving VMS or cloud service. The dock supplies the cameras' shared wired network uplink; it does not independently choose recordings or manage transfer jobs.
- Complete Initial Setup for each camera.
- Confirm that each camera's network settings allow it to communicate on the dock's wired network.
- In each camera's web interface, open Configuration > System > Docking Station and enable Enable Online Mode.
- Configure the cameras in the VMS or PERCEPT Cloud using the applicable Integration Guide.
- Insert the cameras into the network-connected dock and allow them to enter online mode.
- Verify that the receiving system can reach each camera, then check its transfer jobs, progress, and completion.
Hinweis
Connecting the uplink alone does not start recording transfers. Each camera must be online, and the VMS or cloud service must be configured to retrieve its recordings.
The dock's LEDs show health and shared link activity, not per-camera transfer progress, the number of recordings remaining, or an estimated completion time.
For system-specific setup, see the Integration Guides. PERCEPT Cloud users can also refer to the PERCEPT Cloud user guide.
Remove a Camera¶
Check the receiving system to confirm any required recording transfer from that camera has finished before removing it. Lift the camera out of its cradle. Removing the camera also clears its button-operated docking-mode override.
