Operation¶
Connect the Dock¶
- Place the dock on a stable, dry surface within its operating temperature range. Leave its ventilation openings clear.
- Connect the supplied 24 VDC power adapter to the dock's power input.
- For wired recording transfer, connect the dock's RJ45 uplink to the network used by the receiving video management system (VMS) or cloud service. To use the rated uplink speed, use a 10GBASE-T switch port and cabling rated for that connection.
- Connect the supplied power adapter to a mains outlet.
For connections and indicators, see Product Overview.
Insert the Cameras¶
Make sure each camera's USB-C port and cradle connector are dry and free of debris. Align each camera with an available cradle, with the lens facing you, and lower it carefully onto the connector. Do not force or twist the connection.
The DCK8 accommodates up to eight BC200 cameras. Complete Initial Setup for each camera before configuring recording transfer.
Charging¶
Each cradle supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) charging at up to 15 W per camera through the camera's bottom USB-C port using the supplied power adapter.
Check each camera display for battery level and charging status. For the camera's charging icons and LED behavior, see Display and LED Status.
Warning
If a camera or connector becomes wet while charging, stop charging and disconnect power. Allow the affected camera and dock to dry completely before use.
For battery care and charging precautions, see BC200 Device Care. When using the dock, stay within its 0 C to 40 C (32 F to 104 F) operating range.
Status Indicators¶
The dock's rear STATUS LED is solid green when the dock is powered and operating normally. Charging state is shown on each camera's LED and OLED display, not by a dedicated charging LED on the dock. Dock power alone does not confirm that every camera is charging or reachable.
Use each camera's Connectivity > Ethernet Details pages to check its Ethernet link and address information; see the camera Menu reference.
Camera LEDs may be disabled by brightness settings or Covert mode; see the camera LED Status reference.
Note
Dock power and network connectivity do not confirm that recording transfer has completed. The dock does not display transfer progress or estimated completion time. Check each camera's transfer progress and completion in the receiving VMS or cloud service.
Camera Configuration¶
Docking settings are configured on each BC200, not on the dock. Use each camera's Configuration > System > Docking Station section for online-mode and docked media settings.
See the PERCEPT BC200 user manual, System > Docking Station, for the docking configuration reference.
Note
By default, live audio and video streaming is disabled while a camera is docked. The camera sends a static charging image instead, and recorded video retrieval over Wi-Fi is disabled. These behaviors are controlled by the camera's configuration and may vary with firmware version.
For wired-only recorded-video offload, enable Prevent Media Playback Over a Wireless Connection under Configuration > Network > Streaming > Media in each camera's web interface. This prevents recorded media playback over a wireless connection. See the camera's Network configuration reference for streaming controls.
Camera IP addressing and routing are covered by the Network reference. Each camera must be configured for access to the receiving system.
Network Identity¶
The dock has no independent network address. Each docked camera uses its own MAC address and network settings over the shared uplink. The dock is transparent to the VMS and other software integrated with the cameras. All cameras share the capacity of the single 10-Gigabit Ethernet uplink.
Transfer Recordings¶
The dock provides a shared wired network uplink. Recording offload must be configured in the receiving VMS or cloud service; connecting the uplink alone does not configure recording retrieval.
- Complete setup for each camera and confirm that its network settings allow access to the receiving system.
- In each camera's Configuration > System > Docking Station section, enable Enable Online Mode to activate Ethernet while docked.
- Configure the cameras in the receiving system using the applicable Integration Guide.
- Insert the cameras into the powered, network-connected dock.
- Check Connectivity > Ethernet Details on each camera and confirm that the receiving system can reach it.
- Check recording-transfer progress and completion for each camera in that system.
All docked cameras share the uplink and the receiving system's available capacity. For PERCEPT Cloud workflows, also see the PERCEPT Cloud user guide.
Remove a Camera¶
Confirm in the receiving system that any required recording transfer from that camera has completed before removing it. Carefully remove it from its cradle without twisting or forcing the USB-C connection.
