PERCEPT Cloud integration

This guide describes how to connect a PERCEPT Gateway to a PERCEPT Cloud organization.

Prerequisites

Ensure the following requirements are met before starting the integration:

  • A computer with access to PERCEPT Cloud and the device web interface
  • An administrator account on the device
  • A valid PERCEPT Cloud account
  • An active internet connection on the device
  • Firewall rules that allow the device to reach PERCEPT Cloud; see Network requirements

Device configuration

Complete this procedure in the device web interface.

  1. Log in to the device web interface and open the Configuration page.
  2. Select the Integrations tab and expand PERCEPT Cloud.
  3. Make sure Enable PERCEPT Cloud is selected. Click Save if prompted.
  4. Click Show Configuration Code.

Note

You can also onboard the device using the QR code on the label under the device enclosure, without accessing the device web interface. The label also provides the MAC address and PIN for manual onboarding.

Register a device

Continue in PERCEPT Cloud and in the organization's Devices Overview, click Add.

Tip

A PERCEPT Cloud account can be created at perceptcloud.io if required.

PERCEPT Cloud Add Devices

Choose the onboarding mode that matches the available devices:

  • Manual Mode: Use this mode when the same computer can access both the device web interface and PERCEPT Cloud. In the device web interface, click Copy Configuration String, then paste the string into the Add Devices dialog.
  • QR Code Mode: Use this mode when PERCEPT Cloud is open on a computer, tablet, or mobile phone with a camera. In the Add Devices dialog, select QR Code Mode and allow camera access if prompted. Scan the configuration code displayed in the device web interface.

Note

The onboarding QR code must be scanned from within PERCEPT Cloud, not with a standard QR-code reader.

After valid onboarding information is entered or a QR code is scanned, the device preview appears.

Tip

You can change the auto-generated Display Name to a more meaningful name for each device. You can also change it later in the device settings.

To add more devices, repeat the applicable onboarding mode. After entering all devices, click Add X device. A confirmation dialog confirms that the devices were added. Close the dialog.

Note

Devices may take a few minutes to complete their initial connection to PERCEPT Cloud before they are available for use.

PERCEPT Cloud Add Devices Success

When onboarding is complete, the device web interface shows Connected to PERCEPT Cloud. The Organization ID identifies the PERCEPT Cloud organization associated with the device.

Network requirements

Allow the following outbound connections for connectivity checks and PERCEPT Cloud communication. Although most networks allow outbound connections by default, some may require special configuration. Consult the organization's IT department when necessary.
